The Workforce Division is responsible for actively monitoring local, regional, & national private & public workforce initiatives; development & implementation of the State's Talent strategy; and development & implementation of a state intelligence coordination strategy.
In addition, the WFD provides administrative support to Governor appointed Councils and Commissions which includes the North Dakota Workforce Development Council, the North Dakota Youth Development Council, the North Dakota State Commission on National and Community Services and the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. Programs assigned to the WFD include the federally funded AmeriCorps*State formula program, the state funded Internship and Work Experience Opportunities Expansion Program, the state funded Workforce Enhancement Grant Program and the state funded Career Promotion Specialist Initiative.
The goals of the WFD are to insure that North Dakota employers have access to a pool of skilled talent to meet their workforce needs, retaining young people in North Dakota and promoting the expansion of civic engagement and volunteerism in the state.
